Do You Walk By Faith?

I’m pretty sure this has happened to all of us. We pray for healing or some other need, and it doesn’t happen. Or at least it looks like it hasn’t happened. It can feel very discouraging and frustrating. Last year I was battling frequent headaches. They weren’t migraines or anything that bad, but they were annoying and I wanted to be done with them. I prayed about it, believing to be healed, only to get another headache a week later. I just didn’t understand why sometimes healing comes immediately and sometimes it doesn’t. Then God began to teach me about walking by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” When I prayed the first time over my headaches, did I believe that God healed me? Was I willing to stand on His Word that says “by His wounds you have been healed” in 1 Peter 2:24? So I stopped praying FOR healing and started to thank God that I HAD been healed. Proverbs 18:21 says that “death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” So often when we pray, we are quick to say “nothing happened!” But we need to stop viewing this world through our 5 senses. We need to stop listening to our flesh more than we listen to God’s Word. As I began to speak life over myself and proclaim that God had already healed me, the headaches became fewer and farther between. I meditated on the fact that Jesus had defeated my headaches on the cross, and He had OVER-paid for my healing. Now I haven’t had one in a really long time. Would I have preferred instant healing? Of course. But I’ll take healing however it comes, even if that means I have to press in and be persistent. I still don’t truly understand all the reasons why that happens. Was it a matter of my unbelief? Could there be other reasons? Whatever the reason may be, God always wants us to have victory. When we walk by faith, we choose to place a higher importance on God’s Word than anything else that we come in contact with. If something doesn’t line up with Scripture, its not true. I’m no one special. If you are a born-again Believer and Holy Spirit lives in you, then you have everything you need. If it works for me, it will work for you too. Have faith because God’s Word never fails!
