“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God,” Ephesians 3:17-19. The world has painted such a shallow picture of what love is, that sometimes we forget what REAL love is. I love the picture Paul gives us in these verses. God’s kind of love that has dimension. It isn’t just words that are said, its a tangible substance that is meant be explored by us. But Paul also says that it “surpasses knowledge.” We can’t just know it in our minds like we know other things. We can only begin to understand it when we get a supernatural revelation of it from Him. 1 John 4:8 says “whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” God doesn’t just love us, He IS LOVE. His very nature is love, and He can never change. To know God is to know His kind of love, and we begin to know Him when we spend time in His presence. Psalm 46:10 says “be still, and know that I am God.” As we learn to seek Him and rest in His presence, He reveals Himself to us. He gives us a deeper understanding of His love. But I’m learning more and more that “being still” takes time. Its not a one-time exploration. Seeking God is time-consuming. It requires you to keep your focus on Him at all times. Its a lifestyle. But its worth it! As your understanding of Him deepens, His love flows through you, and He uses you to effect the world around you. You can’t give away what you don’t know. Do you want to be a world-changer? Seek God’s face and spend time with Him. He wants to reveal His love to you!
